I’ll say one thing for the @FineGael spin, it’s working. No one is talking about;

1. Who ordered the Garda to support the #TakeBackTheCity eviction? It was a civil not a criminal matter.

2. Who authorised the wearing of balaclavas but not helmets?

Let’s not forget that online comments that have caused such outrage were provoked by shocking scenes of masked Garda evicting activists who were highlighting the chronic Housing crisis across the capital & country.

The Minister is correct. We do depend on the Garda to protect our communities. & right now our communities are being destroyed by property speculation & development that actively harms Irish citizens.

The Garda were defending property developers against citizens on Fredrick St.

That’s why people are angry. Our govt (which has seen homelessness numbers more than DOUBLE during their lifetime) has failed us. So activists took to a building to highlight this crisis. The states’ response was to use our Garda against its citizens.

O’Connell St is named after one of our most famous patriots. Who said;

“There is an utter ignorance of, and indifference to, our suffering and privations...What care they for us, provided we submit, pay their taxes...& bless the Masters who despises us.”

O’Connell was, of course, referring to the English, but he could be describing the modern @FineGael or @fiannafailparty.

That’s why people are angry. They’re not squatting houses because it’s “fun”, it’s because people are desperate, & our govt seemingly despises us for it.
