1/Have Albertans figured out the Scheer and Kenney trips to India?
Many must wonder why these lacklustre Opposition leaders with no mandate are suddenly jetting off to pretend they are doing real work in India. Why is India receiving them?
2/ based on some knowledge and some extrapolation.
BJP, the party of India's PM Modi, is a member party of the International Democratic Union - the right wing international group now led by Stephen Harper.
The IDU's purpose is to get Conservative governments elected around the
3/ world. So that foreign influence the Harper and Scheer party objects to when it comes to environmentalism doesn't apply to their party.
These trips are a breach of protocol. Opposition members do not have a mandate to conduct affairs of the government unless invited by the
4/ government of their own jurisdiction to do so. So when Conservatives help negotiate NAFTA, it's because the Liberal govt of 🇨🇦 asked them to, not because the US invited them.
This is an important distinction, because @PMOIndia has made a serious protocol breach IF they
5/ initiated these trips. I find it unlikely they did so without IDU prodding.
So it seems likely that Harper is using IDU influence to get India to make Kenney and Scheer look good at home. To achieve the ends of IDU.
What do Scheer and Kenney have to do in return?
6/ Well, that's an interesting question, isn't it?
What are these people with no mandate promising India's Conservatives in exchange for this PR exercise?
Recall Harper's initial foray into a trade deal with India and the issue of the nuclear non-proliferation agreement.
7/ There's a history here that should be looked at more carefully.
Make no mistake, these trips are as fake as Kenney's citizenship ceremony photo scandal. They are about using an IDU member party to make Conservatives here look good, despite what's really happening here.
8/ If this turns out to be the case, what should Canada do about it?
Before you dismiss this as a lunatic conspiracy theory, consider:
-Neither trip sanctioned by Cdn govt
-Neither leader can make deals
-Going into election year
-Both dealing with party splits and all
9/ manner of internal issues
-CPC has a record of cheating in federal elections
-UCP already has a problem with cheating even at the nomination level.
Do you seriously think they wouldn't use these trips as described?
Here's why they shouldn't:
The elected government, through
10/ its ministers, has the mandate to deal with their counterparts in other countries. If that is being circumvented by an international body promoting specific parties, that's a direct attack on the structure of our governments.
This isn't an innocuous photo op. This would be
11/ an attempt to undermine our democratic process using an international network.
It's a form of attempted coup.
And there has to be something in it for those foreign interests.
We need to know what.

1/ So @jkenney, who has zero mandate to make deals on behalf of AB with foreign interests, is in India.
He talks to the infrastructure minister about leveraging the private sector re highways. Kenney, who couldn't understand the Carillion bankruptcy proceedings.
2/ And he seems to have misrepresented himself as a minister. But, hey, we all pretend to be something we're not, right? Normal for a party leader to embarrass themselves like that, isn't it?
@UCPCaucus seems to think so. Doesn't seem to understand the ethics issue.
3/ So Kenney moves on to talk AB oil and gas with India's oil execs. We are told in his tweets about how great this market is as target for export.
JK still doesn't understand that we have no trouble finding markets; we can't get our product to them. So what assurances is he
@jkenney 2/ Weirdly, it wasn't the "socialist" NDP (this is where David Lewis and I fought most). Nor was it the Conservatives, who pushed increased trade with US. It was the Liberals with the botched NEP and Petro-Canada. And Conservatives hammered them for it.
Especially in Alberta.
@jkenney 3/ So now it's 2018 and here we are, facing the logical outcome that some of us predicted decades ago.
But you didn't fix it in govt. Then you QUIT your job in Opposition after less than a year to dismantle Con parties in AB and create the current mess called @Alberta_UCP
