@reporterliz 1. That's quite a crowd! I don't condone yelling, but this is what happens when people who live, work and pay taxes in a community feel blindsided and unheard. There have been other forums in the Valley where it was clear that only the #homelessindustry was given a voice
@reporterliz 2. Besides shouts of #RecallRyu, they're also calling for #CommonSense, which is sorely lacking in the entire non debate about what to do with the criminal vagrants that the #caleg keep releasing into our streets, and that @MayorOfLA and the entire City Council keep coddling.
@reporterliz@MayorOfLA 3. When an article like this -- sultanknish.blogspot.com/2018/08/the-bi… -- which discusses the salient question, "who benefits from this?" is reported as hate speech, we are no longer having a conversation. People have compassion. That's why Angelenos voted for HHH and H.
@reporterliz@MayorOfLA 4. But people didn't vote to have their lives upended, threatened and changed for the worse. NB, each council district represents around 300,000 people. Councilman Ryu was elected with 13,161 votes in 2015. That means he should care about what his constituents think.
@reporterliz@MayorOfLA This is the map of the Council District -- navigatela.lacity.org/common/mapgall… -- does this make sense to you? People want to hear and be heard, but incumbents all over LA and California are refusing to debate. That's not good for our representative republic.
@reporterliz@MayorOfLA 6. By the way, our "bettors" screwed up their plan to get more participation in local elections. Nice. You had one job.
1. Does this add to “people’s misapprehension about immigration and crime?”
SMH that this question is even asked. It’s not a misapprehension to notice that (as article says) “non-citizens were responsible for 21 percent of federal crimes between 2011 and 2016”
2. And you’d have to be incredibly naive (I’m being generous) to believe the canard about immigrants committing fewer crimes than native born population.
“Immigrant” =/= to “illegal alien” which is a term of law.
Of course legal aliens commit almost no crimes!
3. Because we are told and understand that committing any crime subjects is to possibility of deportation, as we are GUESTS in our host country.
That’s why we go through the process of arriving legally. Guests come in the front door of my home. Those who pop over my back wall
