Thread.
I usually refrain from posting things that are very personal to me but I found this hidden beauty here in the middle of nowhere in #Hyderabad that blew my mind. It was at an event that observed 110years of #MusiFloods and the activists took us down memory lane literally
As you can see its a pathway hidden somewhere amidst the bustling traffic.I admit to visiting old city only for work or for #Charminar & never even noticed this whole beautiful pathway flanked on either sides of #Musi that give a breathtaking view of Osmania Hospital & High Court
It seems I wasn't alone as the 100 odd kids with me were blown that something like this even existed. I guess it came up somewhere in 2008 when this stretch of Musi was developed as a Heritage Zone. Its about 1.5km long with entry point from HC and Salar Jung.
The same project also saw the river upstream as ecological zone and downstream as commercial zone, however the project never took off due to environmental concerns. But I guess they managed to have these pathways. This photo right here looks so striking if we ignore the filth.
The experts aren't quite happy with pathway either but they have a strong point to make. Now that this is here, this should at least be usable for public to see and make Musi a talking point (I understand the sentiment cause a mention of Musi is like a yawning topic of pollution)
But is beautifying and offering a water body all decked up to the public even help? We see Hussain Sagar all pretty and yet that's a dumping place.
How I see it is this that now that I got down and came so close to this beautiful river I feel somehow responsible towards it.
Oh and these are some of the municipality staff who upkeep the small garden and the basic cleaning of the area. They say nobody even comes here anymore because the #Musi stinks 🙄
While I dont have a very informed opinion on this issue, I just think we need a stronger public cry about this. They seem to be fixing MJ market now. Maybe this next?
And anything to do with the river should hopefully go beyond beautifying it. So many elderly shared memories of swimming here. This place has so much potential, heritage and magnificence!! All wasted behind random projects 🤔
Just see this. I mean.. I am speechless. I was blown by the beauty of the place and the stink was frankly the last thing on my mind. Though I was worried about the lack of safety here
I think it would be great if we all head out there.. Inhale the stink and stop buying the stink authorities try to sell us about the Musi project and see for ourselves how poorly this river has been handled.
Ending thread with a picture of the person responsibile to clean Musi under the Musi River Front Development Corporation. #Hyderabad #MusiFloods #MusiRiver
Hoping someone deems themselves responsible for this river..
