I’m going to be doing a series of tweets every day for a week or 2 to help inform young people on the possibility of running for office.

These tweets are NOT endorsements but are just to show that it is possible to run for office at a young age and there are people that do.

The young people of this country have seen enough violence and death. These incredible students in New Orleans deserve more coverage for their incredible activism in the wake of tragedy.

These students mobilized hundreds to rally against gun violence. They had a unified message of enough is enough.

These students started a group and initiative called #ProjectLiveAndAchieve. Listen to their strength and find inspiration in their action.

Everyone needs to hear the story of Amer Miller, a 17 year old gunned down over his iPhone on July 14th. washingtonpost.com/local/public-s…
Amer Miller was shot and killed after being robbed. He was a week away from his 18th birthday and had a bright future ahead of him.
At the local community center, his English teacher DeMarcus McMillan read an Essay Amer wrote, its quoted in the Washington Post article.

Today we’re going to UT-2 home to Chris Stewart an A-rated NRA politician The vote differential was 41,330. Young people can determine the outcome of this district if they turn out to vote. There are 131,700 18-29 year olds in this district that can vote.
80% of gun deaths in Utah suicide

From 2000 to 2015 suicide rate in Utah has gone up 51%

Utah has no law imposing a waiting period prior to the purchase of a firearm which could help stop this epidemic.
According to a study conducted by Harvard researchers “Between 1970 and 2014, 43 states had waiting period laws in place for at least 1 year. The researchers compared guns per capita homicide rates in states with and without the laws over the same time periods.

Btw to those of you that think guns and Violance is the best way to overthrow a tyrannical government you’re wrong. According to “Civil Resistance Works: The Statigic Logic of Nonviolent Conflict” that used every violent conflict they could find from 1900-2006 (232 total) as data
Non-violent resistance campaigns we're about 2x as likely to succeed as violent one's or in other words Take up arms and you'll only have about a 26% chance at succeeding.
So know when the NRA says Violance and guns are the only way to overthrow the government only say so to sell more guns and rely on scaring Americans into a false narritive where you can only over throw a tyrannical gov with guns. They are wrong and only successful 26% of the time
