SRE is an opinionated, concrete implementation of DevOps principles.

How many people have heard of/read the books? Fewer (~20%). #VelocityConf

Reliability is the most important property of your systems. If your systems are not reliable and do not meet your users' expectations, they won't use it, and your expensive system will have no users.

There is no such thing as a valuable system with no users. #VelocityConf

Reliability leads to user trust. The only measure of reliability is your users' perspective, not your logs or monitoring. They don't care if "it looks fine to me."

Give yourself a break, and don't demand perfection from yourself. It will force you to lie and fudge. #VelocityConf
