2. By taking the FL State Senate back after *24* years.
If you know of ANYONE in Florida, or have ANY Floridian followers, please share!
The Florida State Senate is made up of 40 seats.
22 seats are currently held by Republicans, 16 are held by Democrats, and 2 are vacant.
Democrats need a net gain of +5 seats in order to take the chamber.
Florida State Senate elections are staggered, so only 22 of the 40 seats are up for grabs in 2018.
Gaining 5 seats is tough, but the numbers prove it’s doable.
Please spread the word about these Democratic contenders!
In Florida State Senate District 36, Democrat David Perez (DavidPerezFL) is running to flip this open GOP-held seat that Hillary won by 13.4%.
In Florida State Senate District 18, Democrat Janet Cruz (@RepJanetCruz) is running to flip this GOP-held seat that Hillary won by 5.4%.
In Florida State Senate District 8, Democrat Dr. Kayser Enneking (@KayserEnneking) is running to flip this GOP-held seat that Trump won by .2%. There is also an Independent candidate in the race, so anything is possible.
In Florida State Senate District 22, Democrat Bob Doyel (@DoyelForFlorida) is running to flip this GOP-held seat that Trump won by 6.6%.
In Florida State Senate District 24, Democrat Lindsay Cross (@LindsayCrossFL) is running to flip this GOP-held seat that Trump won by 7%.
In Florida State Senate District 20, Democrat Kathy Lewis (kathyforflorida.com) is running to flip this GOP-held seat that Trump won by 8.3%.
In Florida State Senate District 25, Democrat Dr. Robert Levy (@RobLevy4FL) is running to flip this open GOP-held seat that Trump won by 11.6%.
In Florida State Senate District 14, Democrat Melissa Martin (@melforsenate14) is running to flip this vacant seat that Trump won by 18.1%. This race is up-in-the-air because the incumbent GOP candidate sadly died of cancer this past week and ballots have already gone out.
In Florida State Senate District 16, Democrat Amanda Murphy (@AmandaMurphyFL) is running to flip this vacant seat that Trump won by 12.8%. The seat was vacated by a GOP politician who resigned due to sexual misconduct allegations.
In Florida State Senate District 23, Democrat Olivia Faith Babis (@Olivia4FLSenate) is running to flip this open GOP-held seat that Trump won by 14.3%. If elected, Olivia (who was born without arms) would be the first disabled member of the Florida State Legislature! Go Olivia!
As always, there are other Florida Senate Senate Democratic challengers and incumbents that will also need your support in November, so if your district has an election this year, #VoteBlueNoMatterWho!
Back in May, Paul Ryan personally solicited billionaire Sheldon Adelson for $30Million for the CLF. He made the pitch and then walked out of the room so that someone else could make the actual “ask”, in order to avoid campaign finance violations. esquire.com/news-politics/…
#OH12 left us with a cliffhanger. We all worked so hard to give @dannyoconnor1 an outright win. Yes it's a steep climb, but it could still happen. Either way, we did good!
But let's not overlook the OTHER good House news from last night.
In "Toss-up" #MI08 Democratic primary voters OUT-VOTED Republican primary voters.
Democrat Elissa Slotkin (@ElissaSlotkin) is going to FLIP this seat right out from under incumbent GOP Rep. Mike Bishop.
But only if we help her right now.
Register. Vote. DONATE. Volunteer.
In "Toss-up" open seat #MI11, Democratic primary voters OUT-VOTED Republican primary voters.
But Democrat Haley Stevens (@HaleyLive) needs to hit the ground running if we want to FLIP this seat.
I usually don’t take sides in primaries, but when it comes to the "Democrats" of the Independent Democratic Conference (IDC) in the New York State Senate, I have no choice.
PLEASE WATCH this explainer on the IDC narrated by Edie Falco:
There are 9 real Democrats challenging 9 fake “Democrats” this year in the New York State Primary on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH.
These real Democrats MUST win their primaries if NY is to have a true-blue Progressive future.
PLEASE spread the word on these @NoIDCNY candidates!
In NY State Senate District 38, real Democrat Julie Goldberg (@Julie4NYSenate) is vying to unseat IDC “Democrat” David Carlucci. Julie is an educator, a writer, and a mom who wants to fight for Progressive values in NY.
Q2 Fundraising is over, and Democrats did a great job!
But I was chatting with @ybbkaren and an interesting question came up:
With SO MANY great candidates, how do we decide who needs donations the most? Many are worthy, but our personal funds are not unlimited.
So I came up with an idea for my own list of Dems who need $$$ based upon the following criteria:
*They have won their primary
*They are trying to flip “swing” GOP-held seats (per @CookPolitical ratings)
*They are behind their GOP opponents in “Cash on Hand” (per @OpenSecretsDC)
That’s not to say that other Democrats in swing districts are not worthy. They are. But the following, from a strategic $$$ perspective, might be the best place to donate *for now*.
This is the list of those House candidates, and their donation links, based on that criteria:
