#thread Bit shocked by a conversation while I was having hair cut. Chap next to me was leaving teaching to join police. 1/
He taught reception and early years mainly, up to year 4 I think. 2/
He was leaving first because he felt he now actually spent a too little of his time actually teaching and too much hoop-jumping. 3/
Most shocking to me, though, was that he said he'd been asked to downgrade his students' achievements to prevent cuts to funding. 4/
Do we genuinely have an education system now where funding incentivises schools to downplay their student and staff's ability? 5/
