THREAD - there are days I really struggle with my faith. I wonder sometimes if I should even call myself a Christian any more.

The pain that has been caused in the name of God, by the people of God is unthinkable. Harmful. Toxic. Just awful.

Many days, I am humiliated to be lumped in with Evangelicals and others who cause such trauma on behalf of our religion.

Countless times over the past two years, I've thought I should just hang it up. Become an agnostic. Become a "none".

But each time I get close, I hear the voice of Jesus, that same voice that whispered to me in the ICU bed.

At my lowest moment, the voice of God, said, "I'm not finished with you yet."

When I disconnect from toxic people & reconnect with the Love that won't let me go, I remember that there've always been goats in the mix.

People let us down. Cause us harm. Embarrass us. And I think they even embarrass God. But God is Love. God isn't fear. Or shame. Or guilt.

So if you're in the same boat. Sickened by what the church looks like in many places, join me. But don't give up. Let's do things better.

God promised, "I'm not finished with you yet." And that's a promise that there is a better way. And I get to be included.
