I want to talk about the enormous impact that @HillaryClinton had on my four year old, Mateo Ali. It began one night in Philadelphia...
The final weekend before the election, we took Mateo Ali to Philly to knock on doors, hoping to convince a few more people to vote for HRC.
We had travelled the country with Mateo over the summer, from swing state to swing state, trying to do whatever we could to elect Hillary.
During the last weekend, Hillary had a rally/concert with @KatyPerry, in Philly + we were luckily invited to attend with 14,000 other ppl.
When the rally was over, we were walking to our car when Mateo turned to me and said, "daddy, when I grow up I want to be @HillaryClinton."
As a father who is trying to raise a compassionate son, I'll never know the true impact that HRC had on his attitude towards women, but...
...but I do know that I'm raising my son to be a feminist and Hillary Clinton is the ultimate role model for a four year old boy in America.
So I turned to Mateo + said, "when you grow up, you too can be President, just like Hillary."

She didn't win but she changed Mateo's life.
The imagination of Mateo Ali and boys (and of course girls) across America will never be limited to what a woman can achieve. That matters.
I took Mateo into the voting booth with me as we proudly voted for HRC. We are devastated by the loss but forever grateful for her campaign.
Hillary, while people talk about your new book, please know that you've changed the imagination of young boys and girls forever. #ImWithHer
Mateo now stays in the streets to protest Trump. But one day, this will be his America. And I hope he gets to witness a female President.
That's what one night in Philly did to my beautiful son. Thank you Hillary. Thank u!

Now I gotta get him ready for his first day of Pre-K!

Trump is very comfortable creating a culture war in America.

Telling black NFL players to leave the country. Calling undocumented immigrants “animals.” Banning Muslims from the US. Attacking Chicago for gun violence.

He knows that fear + division feeds his base of white voters.
Trump’s never cared about policy. His entire career he’s used culture to build his divisive, bigoted platform he is now enforcing in America. From the Central Park 5 to Obama’s birth certificate, before he stepped foot in the Oval Office, he was using culture to build his power.
I have personally witnessed his racism, his homophobia, his Islamophobia, his anti-Semitism and for sure his sexism. His nastiness is no secret to anyone who has spent any time with him throughout his career. Sadly I had to be around him a few times. He is a vicious human being.

Last night was an historic night for America.

Let's celebrate the history makers!

A thread.

(h/t @Phil_Lewis_)
Danica Roem became the FIRST transgender state lawmaker in the United States, when she unseated Virginia Del. Bob Marshall, the Republican who introduced the “bathroom bill” that would have prohibited transgender students from using the bathroom of their choice.
Wilmot Collins, a refugee from Liberia, won an election in Helena, MT last night, becoming the FIRST black mayor in Montana’s history.
