When I was growing up my Pop told me that there are two things certain - the govt can't be trusted and Aus doesn't want you to succeed.

He was right - I have been put down at every opportunity by the power brokers and those that gain from oppression.

He taught me that every time I showed throat - they would try to slit it. But we've survived worse and it shouldn't stop me showing throat.

Being an outspoken Gamilaraay woman has opened me to the vitriol that is specifically reserved for #IndigenousX ppl - but I won't stop.

Just because we are shut down and kicked while we are down there shouldn't stop our fight and we can't wallow in dismay.

We have 230 years of governmental detriment woven into our beings so this govt response to referendum council is not novel.

We will continue to be silenced, spoken over and outright attacked but compromise is not the way forward. #Treaty is the way forward.

We don't just need a voice - although I can see this was an attempt at coming to the table - we need the power to directly impact policy.

There should be nothing about us without us and this concept is not unreasonable.

The work by those who prepared Referendum Council report is not for nothing - you have shone further light on govt contempt for us.

The govt's response unsurprising. We know cannot be trusted to GAF about our best interests. We have to fight. #Treaty

We can and should unite for #Treaty and need to stop asking for permission - because none was sought when this land was invaded.

No permission was sought when our men were put in chains, our women raped while in servitude and our children removed.

No permission was sought when RDA amended specifically to create racist legislation. Always the subject but never a person.

Victims of crime yet demonised.
We know truth & we wade through trauma to seek justice.
White Aus silence defeating.
Silence = complicity

#Treaty would be insurance policy against Govt we know cannot be trusted. Not then and not now. We go into this with eyes wide open.

We are supported by our First Nations brothers and sisters across the world "learn from our experience with #Treaty " they say & we will ✊🏽
