The shooting in #SutherlandSprings was among the worst in U.S. history.

3 of the 5 deadliest shootings have come in the past 2 years.
This trend is tragic. It's horrifying. It is NOT normal. And we need your help to do something about it.
If you agree that thoughts and prayers are not enough to stop this senseless violence, add your name and join us: giffords.org
If you agree that domestic abusers should not have easy access to guns, add your name: giffords.org
If you agree that anyone who can't pass a background check has no business owning a gun, join us: giffords.org
I've made it my life's mission save lives from gun violence. I travel the country to testify, to organize, to raise awareness...
My recovery is a long, hard haul, but I work at it every day. The same is true with gun violence in America. We won't solve it overnight.
But together our voices & our votes are powerful. We can elect leaders who will protect us. We can save lives. We can build a safer future.
America needs leaders with courage. Leaders who acknowledge problems and marshal forces to solve them.
I'm heartbroken for the people of #SutherlandSprings. We owe it to them, and to the families impacted by every shooting, to take action.

The accounts from today's school shooting in Parkland, Florida strike fear into all Americans. Is it safe to send our kids to school? Are we safe in our homes and communities?
But our fear cannot compare to what our innocent children felt as the gunshots rang out, bullets flew through the halls of their school, and their teachers and classmates were gunned down.
Even in our grief, we must summon the courage to fight against this fear. We must find the courage to imagine a country where these massacres do not occur. Our leaders must find the courage to escape the confines of their politics & pursue the moral necessity of peace & safety.

5 yrs ago at a meeting w/my constituents in Tucson, AZ, a troubled young man opened fire, injuring 12 & killing 6. I was shot in the head.
When I was shot, the bullet tore through the left side of my brain, an injury that is almost always fatal. Somehow, I survived.
Today, speaking is hard for me. My eyesight isn’t very good. My right arm & right leg remain mostly paralyzed. vogue.com/13442030/natio…
