Honestly I don't even know why the death penalty is even still a debate. My state recently resumed executions for the first time in some years and every time a new one is plastered all over the news I get sick thinking about it.
And then I feel guilty for feeling bad because there are victims and their families to consider. But come on, lethal injection in front of a crowd of spectators?
It's just so barbaric and medieval. I thought we could be better than that.
Not to mention the fact that several death row inmates have been proven innocent and exonerated. With a punishment so final and irreversible, the margin of error needs to be none.
And time and time again, it's been proven that errors can and will be made. And when an error is made, an innocent human being is killed by our criminal justice system.
"It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer."
And here ends my unplanned rant on the #DeathPenalty
