/7 A few minutes ago, we released a new version of Firefox to the world: we call it Firefox Quantum. Hundreds of people have worked for more than a year in order to make this happen. #newfirefox#firefoxquantum
/7 On the technology side, our engineers turned an experimental technology (Servo) into a stable and highly efficient rendering engine that is blazing fast.
/7 On the research side, we set out to understand what makes users perceive a browser as fast and modern. We studied their workflows and found ways to make them more efficient.
/7 On the design side, we redesigned the browser around the findings from our research. Making the UI cleaner and easier to understand. All of our design decisions followed the guiding principle of speed: making the browser feel faster in every interaction.
/7 While redesigning the browser, we also started to build out our new design system. For the first time in a long time, Firefox design decisions are documented in a central place, making them more consistent and repeatable.
/7 I am hugely grateful for being able to be part of this effort. And I am grateful for the amazing people that I got to work with as a part of this project.
