2/ This fall, the Public Interest Legal Foundation sent letters seeking to bully 248 jurisdictions into instituting purge programs. Purge programs are another dirty tactic used to suppress the rights of voters. Today we are taking action to fight back.
3/ The PILF letters use bad data and flawed methodology to promote baseless claims that non-eligible voters are on the rolls. Their letters to the are a naked attempt to bully officials into purging voters from the rolls. We see right through this. publicinterestlegal.org/files/Sample-2…
4/ The PILF letters run contrary to the National Voter Registration Act – a federal law passed by Congress that aims to prevent the premature and unlawful voter purge programs that PILF now seeks.
5/ At @lawyerscomm, we have a long history of fighting #voterpurge programs across the country. In Hancock County, GA election officials purged 17% of all voters from the rolls in the town of Sparta and almost every one of them was African American. nytimes.com/2016/08/01/us/…
