Dear O H I O,
Your @OhioSenateGOP is attempting to keep voters and bipartisan support OUT of redistricting reform, with a “non-reform” proposal, now called Senate Resolution 5 legislature.ohio.gov/legislation/le…
If they get it on the ballot in May and it passes, they believe they win- even if Democrats pick up key seats towards a more balanced government (for and by the people) because they’ll maintain control of redrawing congressional district lines- a.k.a....
Gerrymandering districts, and even dividing large counties (where the majority of voting Democrats reside in the state, you see)...a.k.a. Securing their Republican majority beyond 2018 despite the public outcry for balanced gov.
Meanwhile, the current MAJORITY Republican U.S. Congress- also brought to you by the 2011 @GOP gerrymandering- is threatening to shut down the federal government because they can’t get what they want from..... EACH OTHER🤔
And in this “non-reform” proposal, they require only 1/5th of the Democratic Caucus to approve the lines they draw- a.k.a. They recognize they’ll have to cheat (again) to win...a.k.a. They’re afraid.
The @OhioSenateGOP only needs to pass Senate Resolution 5 out of the state legislature by Feb 7, to be on the May ballot (oh ya, they also wrote out the Governor so it can’t be vetoed...especially if he or she’s a Democrat after 2018)....
So, if you’re interested in balanced government, balanced policy and laws, and living in Congressional districts that YOU approve, please 🏃🏽♀️to an @OhFairDistricts petition and sign it! And 🏃🏽♀️to their website and sign up for updates! #staywoke
