Lots of news from the @OurRevolution call!!! This will be a pretty lengthy thread.
@jjz1600 was on the call & said that state parties are the most opaque. One of the proposals made to the DNC is a recruiting process for running & becoming involved in the political party. 1/
May 8th & 9th is when the DNC will be voting on the proposed amendments to the Rules and Bylaws. Our Rev. will be mailing out information to us on how to get our state party chairs to the DNC for this so we can make sure it passes. 2/
Perhaps my fav. part of the call - a guy named Daniel who worked on @WoodfinForBham's campaign told us some encouraging stats from his time on it. They made 40,000 calls to ppl, knocked on 10,000 doors. 11,500 of these ppl NEVER voted for a mayoral vote before. Spending more 3/
money and time in DIRECT VOTER CONTACT is better than any tv ads can do. It also gave them a HUGE TURNOUT. Randall's campaign only won by 7,000 votes too. The campaign volunteer turnout STAYED ENGAGED in community projects afterwards. Texting voting info is good for millennial 4/
turnout. Another thing Woodfin did was impose term limits in himself (2 years). I think this showed a certain level of respect to his community doing this which in turn helped him succeed.
Some other things we talked about: to get a candidate endorsed by Our Rev. you need 5/
have an Our Rev. group set up if one is not locally. It's easy to set up & takes about 30-90 days to screen depending on how many ppl are being nominated.
Super exciting stuff coming😎:
Our Revolution Campus !!! It will be faculty & staff along with students working together 6/
They said they are launching this next week & that they will have a call for it & @shailenewoodley is going to be on it! They will send an email for an invite to the call. They also have a Our Rev. Organization hub in the works too. 2018, here we come 😎 #OurRevolution
