How a colleague was conned.

THREAD
My colleague has been desperately looking for a job elsewhere just to improve her career portfolio and also she felt the need to change her work environment.
She was referred to a certain company by one of her friends to send her CV via email. She was super excited and I wished her all the best during her application.
She went through her CV just in case something was off.
She wanted to edit it but her phone wasn't letting her edit (idk why either) and she couldn't use the office computer; you know how some companies are mean with their internet.
Her documents editing app from her phone started acting up.
I told her it would be easier if she went to the Cyber café.
That following weekend she was in Town and walked into one of the Cyber cafés and started working on her CV. Didn't take her long since it was just the alignment (according to what she told me)
She ended her session and left.
On Monday late morning hours she got a call. Someone calling himself Eric told her he was calling from the company she had applied the job to. He even told her the position she was applying was still vacant and he had qualified for an interview round
'Eric' then went ahead and told my colleague that the interview was later that afternoon and she needed to go with all her original documents and a medical report from a certain specific doctor of a certain specific hospital.
'Eric' told her that he would send her a phone number belonging to the 'Doctor' and he would take it up from there.
She was super excited and I was happy for her and all but I was sceptical about the timing of the interview. I thought interview rounds have prior notices but hell; I didn't wanna tell her because I didn't want to spoil her moment and look like an asshole
She then called the 'Doctor' up and the 'Doctor' told her regarding the medical examination she has to pay a fee of Ksh 3,500/- via mPesa and she doesn't even have to go see him at the hospital.

😐😐😐
My colleague really tried to reason out with the 'Doctor' on the said medical check up but she was really blinded by the excitement and the desperation and she ended up sending the Kshs 3,500/-

She risked it all!!
The 'Doctor' told her that by 5 pm later in the day he will have the 'medical report' ready and all she had to do was pick it up at the reception area of the hospital.
It was later in the afternoon of that day when the excitement had worn off and she started reasoning with her conscience regarding such a job application.
First, they said the interview was that afternoon, right?
Second, the 'Doctor' told her that the medical report would be ready at 5 pm that same afternoon, right?

Nothing was adding up at this point.
She called the first number belonging to Eric and there was no answer

She made an attempt on calling the 'Doctor' and still nothing.

She went ahead and searched the phone numbers online from the company's website and you got it right... NOTHING!
At this point she had already known that she had just been ripped off.
She called the hospital which the 'Doctor' worked at and she was told there's no such business agreement that exists in that organization!
We tried to think round it and how this was possibly done. How they had all her details and everything.

Then it came to me on replacing back her steps.

It all started when she went to the Cyber café....
She had accidentally saved her CV on the Cyber café's computer. Someone/ Cyber café attendant came across it & took advantage of the situation. They had all her details to say the least so all they needed is a well planned scheme..Which they managed PERFECTLY
So, as we look for jobs during this hard trying times, let's be vigilant. Let's not be blinded by desperation and we forget that even the smallest details in our lives will mess us up mercilessly. The world is a cruel place and no one cares about you!!!
Let's all be woke af or else a similar thing or even a much worse thing will/ might happen to you.

Always keep in mind what DJ Khaled @thekeysofkhaled keeps telling us->

DON'T EVER PLAY YOURSELF🔑
My boss once told me - NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO DETAILS IS WHAT WILL RUIN THESE MILLENNIALS.
