That #SteeleDossier was so weak & unverified, in Oct. 2016, the FBI proffered a NEWS STORY written by Michael Isikoff of Yahoo News to 'corroborate' the dossier.
The problem with that? Steele was *also* Isikoff's source for that story.
As Trey @TGowdySC just helpfully explained on Fox News about the Mueller investigation, there are several streams at work here:
1) Russian hacking/attempts to interfere in our 2016 Presidential election.
That's real. That stuff did happen.
BUT that first stream was used to help launch ANOTHER stream:
2) Trump/Russia collusion using the #SteeleDossier & stories planted in the DNC Media thru #FusionGPS, all paid for & commissioned by the Hillary Clinton campaign & the DNC.
A clique inside the DOJ/FBI saw the Russian interference in the 2016 election as a helpful springboard for launching a narrative using media allies that they could use to start investigations that would hopefully either take Trump out or badly cripple his brief administration.
Mueller is tasked primarily with doing a counterintelligence investigation into the Russian interference in our 2016 election.
Even WITHOUT the dossier/FISA court shenanigans, that is still worthy of investigation.
As it becomes clear the entire second stream of Mueller's investigation was based on a bogus paid smear job coordinated between some in the DOJ & the Clinton campaign with Fusion being the middleman, don't forget that first stream is still there.
There is also a 3rd stream in the Mueller investigation, which sprang from the 2nd stream:
3) The FBI investigation into Gen. Flynn & Trump's supposed obstruction of that investigation.
We've learned an awful lot since Dec. 12th when the media was first shown the Strzok/Page texts and Horowitz's investigation surfaced.
It became apparent Flynn was the target of a manufactured investigation based on manufactured crime.
Time and again, this clique within the DOJ/FBI has followed the exact same strategy. The pattern is now evident.
1) Plant stories in media placing someone under suspicion & generate demands they be investigated
2) Go after them.
They did this with BOTH Flynn and Carter Page.
Comey then did it when he leaked his own memos to a friend, so he could dramatically testify in front of Congress and demand the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Trump's supposed obstruction of the FBI's investigation of Flynn.
So I'd like to caution people. While the 2nd and 3rd streams have been invalidated due to new information, Mueller is still tasked with investigating the 1st stream: genuine Russian hacking/interference efforts in our election.
Which did indeed happen.
At this point, I'm pretty sure DOJ IG Horowitz's evidence has been shared with Mueller. Mueller knows now, if he didn't before, that the 2nd and 3rd streams he's been investigating are frauds.
The evidence compelled him delay Flynn's sentencing.
Mueller is also VERY aware of Horowitz looking over his shoulder. Evidence uncovered by Horowitz has already led to members of Mueller's team being removed.
Even if you assume Mueller's dirty - and I don't - what can he do now?
Just yesterday, more circumstantial evidence surfaced to bolster an old theory of mine: Mueller is a white hat who's been used to start an investigation where his team is actually being held in isolation while they are investigated by Horowitz.
It turns out Preet Bharara was one of the prosecutors in the Evgeny Buryakov case. Buryakov was 1 of 3 SVR [Russian spy service] agents who approached an undercover FBI employee and attempted to recruit him to spy for them.
It turns out that undercover FBI employee was none other than Carter Page.
Read what Reuters reported - based on the prosecutor's own documents & statements! - Page did for 2 years as this case was built against this SVR spy ring:
Page was also the star witness in the trial, and on March 9, Reuters reported that story after Buryakov was convicted in federal court.
And then an amazing thing happened. Preet Bharara and John P. Carlin, head of the DOJ's Nat. Sec. Div., just somehow FORGOT by October 2016, just six months later, that Carter Page had just helped them bust a spy ring.
Because in October 2016, Carlin and others go to the FISA Court & claim to the judge Page is a foreign agent for Russia.
To prove this, the FBI proffers to the Court the #SteeleDossier & Michael Isikoff's Yahoo News story.
All during the past year, with Carter Page's name being bandied about as a suspected Russian spy, not once does Preet Bharara speak up and talk about how absurd this is.
Now it COULD BE that Preet can't talk about Page helping take down a SVR spy ring because of classified information issues.
But during his investigation in Carter Page, wouldn't Mueller have discovered all of this by now? Of course he would have.
John P. Carlin knew Page was not a Russian agent. Yet he goes to the FISA Court and swears that he has evidence demonstrating this. And the evidence is bogus.
Bharara knows Page is not a Russian agent. Yet he too zips his lip.
Bharara's enthusiasm for seeing Mueller's team take Trump out is well known. He tweets about it often.
Did this lead him to be silent about the guy the entire #SteeleDossier/#FISACourt shenanigans are centered around actually being a patriot who helped the FBI bust a spy ring?
ADDENDUM: I had to delete a tweet in this thread when I realized I had fallen for bad information. I'd read that Preet had actually joined Mueller's team.
Now that I spent 20 seconds Googling, I learn this is FALSE. It was someone who WORKED for him, Andrew Goldstein.

You know how a jet fighter launches chaff to throw the enemy off the target?
I'm halfway convinced it was the **TRUMP TEAM ITSELF** in the White House sending out people to be anonymous sources spreading these "OMG Kushner is an IDIOT!" stories in the Fake News Media.
Trump is a master of information warfare.
If anybody started putting 2 and 2 together and snooping around what Kushner was up to, I can totally see the White House sending people out to anonymously seed the media with stories like...this:
All the anonymous sources were in agreement: this Kushner guy is just benefiting from having married Trump's daughter, he's in way WAY over his head, has got no clue what he's doing.
The only thing **different** about how Comey won't answer the questions put to him by these Congressional commitees [other than the standard "I don't recall"] is he won't be saying:
"I can't comment on that because it's currently part of an ongoing federal investigation."
Instead Comey will be saying THIS:
"On the advice of my legal counsel, I invoke my Fifth amendment rights."
or
"My counsel has advised me not to discuss this, and so I won't."
To people endlessly asking me if President Trump is aware of and taking steps to combat this whole "Color Revolution" playbook:
Yes, he is aware of it.
Yes, he is taking steps to deal with it.
No, he's not going to tell you what they are.
The biggest assumption people make is because Trump hasn't **publicly rolled out** his strategy for dealing with this threat that is all over the media & we're all talking about it is because....he's blind to it.
I've had to endlessly explain this for going on 2 years now:
While the investigation is ongoing, you wouldn't learn anything from subpoenaing these goons because they'd do what COMEY & STRZOK & Mueller & everybody else did when they testified before Congress.
Right?
How many times did you want to hear over and over
"I'm sorry I cannot answer that question because the matter is currently under investigation by the Dept. of Justice" or the dozen of variations to that?
Because THAT'S what you would have heard before now.
