A quick thread on Japanese investment and Brexit. (+a Brexit message from the Japanese Govt if you keep reading).

Japanese investors will meet PM on Thursday as Brexit concerns mount [Nissan to attend].

So, what could be expected from that meeting? 1/3 reut.rs/2BhiKWf
Already back in Sep’16, Japan sent a very clear message to the UK on its future post-Brexit - with requests on customs, rules of origin, regulations, financial passport, immigration, the works.

“Maintain” is a key word. 2/3

2. Sadly, much damage has been done. The fact that citizens’ rights were included in the negotiations was enough reason for some to leave.

3. Despite your cheerful tone, many of us don’t feel our rights are secure, as @cliodiaspora rightly puts it. And we still have to apply to secure them, meaning we can be rejected (with scarily high % of errors at the Home Office, as you know).
