Okay, so I just saw #AWrinkleInTime with the boys. If you haven't seen it yet and aren't sure your adult mind can keep up, I have a suggestion: Go see it with an 8 year old who's seen it before. They. Will. Walk. You. Through. It.

My kid was my best asset in the theater. He hasn't read any of y'all's think pieces. None of the adult perspective reviews. I am fascinated by the details he remembered and the way the movie spoke to him. He was my interpreter and my guide.

He hears whispers I would have missed. He saw colors I would have ignored. He noticed character epiphanies. He felt Meg's pain and it made him cry for the 2nd time. I love this little boy.

Kid: Mom, you hear those math equation whispers?
Me: (lying) Yeah.
Kid: Remember that. They're important for a part that's coming up.

Aaaaaaand....They were important for a part that came up. #AWrinkleInTime

Kid: He sees her awesomeness more than she does. We all need a friend who helps us see how awesome we are, in case we forget so they can remind us. #AWrinkleInTime

I feel I enjoyed the movie more bc of him. Having his gentle commentary in my ear helped me to shed some of the corruption adulthood has done to my spirit. Idk how @ava tapped into the innocence of childhood, but this movie speaks directly to them.

When Oprah was due to appear, he smiled and said, "Here comes Mrs. Which. Watch how beautiful SHE is." Man, even the babies know bout Ms. Winfrey now.

Okay @ava is liking my tweets, so let me go die right fast and Imma be back.

Back to life. So, EYE got mad at Charles Wallace. At the end I said something like "Now Meg gotta punch him in the throat." C was like, "Why??? That wasn't really him doing that. He's little so it's harder for him to resist the It."
Me:

Take off the adult suit when you walk in the theater. Watch for messaging. Look for subtleties. Enjoy the directors vision of other dimensions and let your spirit fly in them. I want to "shake hands with the universe" now. I am a part of it and "me" was meant to be. Just as I am.

I thanked my son in the car on the way home. I told him that I think he is amazing. I told him he really helped me to see the movie as it was meant to be watched. He smiled and ate his Skittles. The universe made some really intricate moves to put me and him together. Thank you.

One more funny thing was that...I got 4 hours of sleep last night and am running on steam. I apologized in advance if I fell asleep in the theater. He just smirked and said, "Yeah. You won't be falling asleep on THIS movie." He aine lie....

My guy...He loved your tweet @ava, and it made him smile. But now he wants to be a kids' movie reviewer. Smh. And I just might help him with that...
