Ok, a bit early but better late than never today.
Time to start the (semi) reviews of #blackpanther
#ReadyPlayerOne #PacificRimUprising and #Bladerunner2

First off, I will always love the first #BladeRunner always.
It put a lot of things in perspective...and had callouts to culture etc, etc.
The second movie was hurt immensely by the lack of new stuff Japan did over the last 30 years.
You cant say the same for #ReadyPlayerOneMovie

As a movie with a feel and a look #ReadyPlayerOneMovie is leagues better than #BladeRunner2049. This was the big mistake of the latter movie because even if it was more coherent than the former, its look and references were lacking killing the vibe.

now to #blackpanther . I made it a rule not to see marvel films, but i did see some of the movie. Ad Men, make this a rule if you want to stand out - Disney is the most cynical sons of bitches when it comes to advertising on this side of the planet.

Disney "Weaponized" #blackpanther to a point that was a bit concerning. The movie (as much as I seen) was just a typical marvel movie. There were some wonderful ideas, but too much of it got lost in the LARP.

That being said, if such a advertising campaign was needed for a movie with a black lead it should have been with #PacificRimUprising not #Blackpanther
because the former film was a million times more relevant than what #blackpanther
ever will be.

BUT YET... YET... both movies didnt have the strong secondary leads as #ReadyPlayerOneMovie did. And the sadder thing is (for fans of the #blackpanther movie) that the strongest female black lead is in #ReadyPlayerOneMovie than #blackpanther

which leads me to the meat of the argument. #ReadyPlayerOne as a book was trying way too hard to be Necromancer from William Gibson (you know him as the @GreatDismal on here)

but as a film? Outside of one or two nagging issues, a LOT of cursing - Spielberg is literally a masterclass underrated genius. This film has NO RIGHT to be this good. Its better than that.

Call it a love letter with a warning. Unlike other films that tend to be "Catholic Nun without the Catholic redemption or even anything remotely spiritual" this doesn't hits you hard but it makes one think deeply about technology and how it creates separation and not unity.

and unlike #bladerunner2049, which asked some what of the same questions, you feel in #ReadyPlayerOneMovie that it mattered. The fact that folks used a book that had no business to be a movie and turned into a great piece of work is a testament to greatness of Steven.

and unlike many critics of the book world who pontificate these days about "bringing people together under OUR RULEZtm" I knew what the #ReadyPlayeOne author was going for - a 80's film. He just tried a bit too hard at it and it hurt the book.

So to recap:
#Bladerunner2049 - hurt by vibe. Successfully done better by #ReadyPlayerOneMovie
#blackpanther = hurt by a successful but deeply cynical ad campaign, #PacificRimUprising and #ReadyPlayerOneMovie better at leads and secondary characters than #BlackPanther

#PacificRimUprising is only a 3rd as good as the first #PacificRim movie (because of one BULLSHIT part, yall know what it is!!!), but isnt even in the same league as #ReadyPlayerOneMovie

#ReadyPlayerOneMovie had everything one asked for a movie and in a movie in this late state. The things they pulled of was smart. There were some moments that i went like... 😁😁😁😁 and others? 😌😌😌😌

dont be hindered by the detractors. 9 times out of 10 #rottentomatoes is wrong. The critics are too enamored by calling their college professors all the time during the week and weekends for spelling and grammar and guru bullshit to even review correctly anymore.

learn from a brotha from the streets, not owned by the real owners of black twitter - who learned real ownage from the real MOTHERFUCKER, The Movie #ReadyPlayerOne is the one. (review over)
