My first time listening to @ghook's Saturday Sit-In. Extremely impressed by @LaraDungan's emphatic argument in favour of #RepealThe8th. A shame it's being broadcast at 8am on a Saturday though. People (myself included) have mixed feelings about George, but it's worth a listen.

I was dismayed to hear the usually wonderful @TLoweBL trying to equate the life of a foetus (or unborn baby if she prefers, but that's a semantic argument) to that of a woman of childbearing age. The two are almost entirely incomparable. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes

A foetus and an unborn baby are the same thing. When a foetus is born it becomes a baby. When a baby is born it ceases to be a foetus. The choice of word is a communications decision. As a comms pro, @TLoweBL should understand that better than most. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes

There are many definitions of 'life'. The Oxford English Dictionary has several. The one that repealers have in mind is "the period between the birth and death of a living thing". Our age is calculated from our date of birth. That's when life begins. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes

I firmly believe that until the umbilical cord was cut, I was a part of my mother and she was a part of me. We were as one. Her bodily autonomy was not distinct from mine. She was capable of making a decision, I was not. She chose to give birth. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes

A child that is never born has nothing to lose. It can't miss what it has never had. It has not developed emotions. It is entirely oblivious to what is happening. It has no concept of life. As with any other child, its mother knows best. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes

A woman whose life is at risk from a pregnancy that is making her contemplate suicide has everything to lose. She has emotions. She knows exactly what's happening. She has a clear concept of life. As with any person, she knows what's best for her. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes

Would you agree with me on this @LaraDungan? You said otherwise on air, but perhaps you hadn't thought about it this way. I think my logic is faultless on this, but I'm open to correction if I can be convinced. #RepealThe8th #TogetherForYes
