In today's job market, you have to be strategic. I call it Optimized Targeted Job Search. See actions below; thread.
1. List about 10-20 companies you intend to work with.
2. Research on how they recruit& what the requirements are.If it's online, through referrals or hard copy Cv submission, you should know.
2b. If you need to add new skills or certifications for this purpose, do it.
2c. If the process requires writing a test, reach out to people that has gone through it and seek guidance on what you should expect, give the test preparation your best, its like a final exam.
Even if you feel confident, still prepare very well. No bad in excelling well.
3. Identify about 3 people that have worked there or has relationship to the companies so you can know the recruitment process.
4. Speak to them about your plans and seek guidance throughout. Ask them for their preferred mode of communication and don't be a pest.
5. If online, visit their websites at least once a week, if referral, reach out to those in the company to drop your Cv. If hardcopy, go to the office & get someone you can follow up with.
Don't underrate that receptionist, the person may be your entry route. Stay respectful
6. Only apply for jobs you meet the criteria with about 60-70%. Stop wasting energy on jobs you are not qualified for.
Remember, looking for a job is a job. Have a great day. End.
