4/ WaPo notes that General Dynamics has exclusive rights to manufacture the white phosphorus round shown in their article. 57 Congressional mbrs received donations from GD in 2018 of 5K or more, & 7 own stock in it. opensecrets.org/orgs/recips.ph…

5/ GD also manufactures bombs, artillery, & various other weaponry being used in US conflicts today. This is just one example of how US politicians profit from war. Many others own stock in or receive donations from other arms manufacturers as well.

6/ A country who's used CWs/WMDs against a number of civilian populations in the very recent past does not have the moral authority to depose a leader for accusations of doing the same. Further, when that country's leaders profit from war, how can they be trusted to act justly?

10/ “Guilty until proven innocent” is a dangerous game to play in international politics, particularly when so many lives are at stake. I have serious questions about Assad’s guilt, considering the only ones who have anything to gain from a chemical attack are the jihadists.

11/ It seems unthinkable that a nation like the United States would fund terrorism (which breaks our own as well as international law, to my understanding).

12/ But it’s been happening for years, and the “Stop Arming Terrorists” bills introduced in the House & Senate by Tulsi Gabbard & Rand Paul were quickly shelved. Only 14 in the House co-sponsored Gabbard's bill, and not one Senator was willing to co-sponsor Paul’s bill.
