Here’s the problem with Oklahoma: its leaders continue to marginalize their own citizens for political gain by operating on fear. When will it end? When will we be expected to do better?
If you want your Legislator to have courage, expect them to do more than what is politically expedient. Hold them accountable to a vision that will move Oklahoma forward by including all of its citizens, not just some of them.
REQUIRE that they STOP using religion as a way to cover their bigoted and discriminatory policies that are harmful, hateful, mean spirited, and unchristian. These issues are not only matters of humanity, but also of economic development.
We cannot and will not grow or diversify our state if we continue to entertain unnecessary legislation only to appease a few members of an extremist fraction of one political party.
For the record, #SB1140 has already cost the state $2B by keeping future businesses out of our state. There was one prominent company who announced at the Tulsa Regional Chamber that this specific bill has forced them to reconsider being in OK.
Is that what we want for our state? A place where no one wants to be because of its track record of embarrassing, hateful, and useless legislation. I don’t. I have better hopes and dreams for our people. I am demanding that we do better.
Let’s work together on a vision that prospers our people, not oppresses them. #okleg
