#Avengers: Infinity War. So big. It's so big I can't even really process it.
And yes, that's epic scale; they take a big universe and make it even bigger. But it's also depth of character and big ideas and thematic richness.
So big.
Good thing I'm seeing it again tomorrow.
Here's the one thing I will say: In Civil War the @Russo_Brothers took a huge cast and created incredible arcs for half a dozen characters. Those characters start in one place, go through a crucible, and come out the other side somebody else. (1/)
They don't do that in Infinity War. Because it's not that kind of story. Instead they throw huge characters at each other and see what comes out.
And what comes out is this incredible panoply of contrasted themes. Big ideas debated through the language of action and film. (2/)
But it's not just the ideas and themes and (incredibly) cool moments. The crucible IW creates for these characteres reveals what they have become AS THE RESULT OF THE LAST 17 FILMS. People talk about the culmination of plot threads. But this is something else entirely. (3/)
I don't know that I've ever seen a film like this before. And I don't know that we'll ever see a film like it again (unless it's the next one). Because it's building on something that has never been built before. And it's doing so with unprecedented success. (4/4)
