Did we watch the same movie? Seriously? This is yet another one of those whiny elitist (spoilery) reviews grounded in the belief that Superhero genre does not deserve critical acclaim. (#nospoilers to the best of my abilities in thread) #AvengersInfinityWar

Marvel Cinematic Universe spent 10 years building up to this point. Each layer meticulously added with characterization and intricate plot lines. They laid the ground work so well in 18 movies that when the resolution finally comes, you say, well, of course!
It IS character driven, because the #MCU has always been about the characters. It wouldn't have succeeded otherwise. Even the ensemble movies are all about individual characters.
It is not easy to write a coherent script with half a dozen character arcs AND still have the necessary pace and flow but the writing teams of MCU has done it time and again.
If you're having issues with characters "just showing up" then you're not doing this right. You wouldn't expect The Two Towers to reintroduce the entire fellowship, why would you expect Infinity War to do the same?
Also, the score in this movie is in the top 2 of MCU. It comes just after Winter Soldier which has one of the best score I've heard. (Guardians 1&2 and Thor Ragnarok share the top spots for songs rather than score)
I don't know whether this reviewer is too biased and elitist, or just didn't bother to do their research (likely both) because if they had done their research, they would know that this is just the first half. We're in intermission after the first 2 acts, with more to come.
It isn't just an "ad" for the MCU. Its culmination of 10 years of storytelling, a satisfying beginning to the "end game" and a jumping point to a new era and new stories.
The MCU has a unique way of storytelling that is unprecedented in cinematic history. If as a film critic/reviewer you can't understand that, then maybe you should go educate yourself.
