jivAtma that is completely different from regular elements of this universe, that is undecaying & eternal will be experienced by only one in a million persons, that too by the result of his great accumulated punyas..
That great person who has 'seen/experienced' the Atma will explain it to another equally blessed person.
The caveat here is, just by listening/speaking about Atma doesn't automatically let the person 'see/experience' It.
Such guru/sishyas are very rare to come across!!

One 'sees' the Atma in wonder. Another 'one' speaks about It in wonder. Someone else listens to this wonder..
Even though everyone see, speak & listen about Atma in absolute wonder, nobody (rare exceptions aside) has actually 'experienced' It's true nature !!

A mukti-yogi sees Ishwara as 'Ishwara' in wonder.
To better explain, the following verse is cited..
'gaganam gaganAkAram' - Sky is, well it just looks like a Sky!!!.. There are no other words to explain/compare it with, no?
Another person describes this 'Ishwara' as if he has just seen Him fully!!
'sAgaram sAgarOpamam' - The oceans are, well just ocean-like!
Another person listens to 'Ishwara' as if he has just listened Him
'rAma rAvanayo: yuddham rAma rAvanayo: iva' - The battle of Rama & Ravana, is well just that!!
Another person who even after seeing/speaking/listening about Ishwara, doesn't know about His miraculous svarupa!

There lived a brahmana by name Devasharma in the south. He lived an ideal life following his household duties (tretagni upasana, bhagavad aradhana, helping atithi etc..). He also performed many yajna-s with utmost shraddha
Even after leading an ideal life, his mind was at great unease. He was very disturbed & wanted a solution to it
He went to a nearby forest where tapasvi-s were meditating. He did all kind of sushrusha (service) to them & finally one managed to tell his problem to one of them
That rishi suggested him to meet a cow-herder by name Mitravan in a place called Punya near Godavari Banks.
Devasharma met him at a grazing land in Punya-nagari. His face was absolutely shining & radiating with great calm.
