I wish y’all would make up your mind on whether Donald Glover needs canceling or whether you want to bask in his reflected glory on the #blackexcellence tip. This dance has been going on for years now. I think pendulum swung back toward canceling as revenge for Issa Ra kerfuffle

A lot of the Blavity and #blackexcellence crowd moved past Donald Glover’s past when he was getting writeups in prestige media and his show was winning major awards and he was helping with representation in nerd stuff like Star Wars, the most important causes to them

Now a week after these people were all mad at people getting mad at Issa Rae, now they see Glover have one of his best weeks ever and they’re suddenly trying to cancel him again. It seems like tit for tat. The problem is the disingenuous excuses they gave for Issa apply here too

If 3 years ago is too old to go back for dragging, a lot of his stuff they’re complaining about is older than 3 years. If humor is a get out of jail free card, a lot of it was stand up and humorous rap punchlines. If the Issa piece is somehow satire than so was his.

Some stuff he said about nonblack women calling him the n-word during sex and fetishizing asian women in his standup weirdo and some rap lyrics

So here’s a problem I’m having. Everyone is saying he has a history of saying bad things about black women including this tumblr post but even in the tumblr post they don’t provide specific examples

They have a parenthetical in there saying “remember he doesn’t like black girls” but I keep rereading it and can’t see an example provided by them of him saying that and I’m sure if it existed they’d have included it?

I went on Lipstick Alley to even find a soundbyte of him explicitly insulting black women or saying he wouldn't date one and these people are investigators extraordinaire and even they never found an example lipstickalley.com/threads/has-do…

I kept looking and this is the only place I’ve seen him explicitly reference black girls and it’s not to say he doesn’t like them. He actually says the exact opposite. It’s from the song Freaks and Geeks. He says he likes black and yellow girls the best in the song

Yes! I’m listening to that now in fact. So where did Donald Glover say that he didn’t like black girls like they’ve been claiming on twitter all day?
