Even with so many diverging views about rival parties, both @BJP4Karnataka and @INCKarnataka supporters have an almost similar position on cm @siddaramaiah's state flag move. Most I spoke with in this region expressed discomfort on flag push. State pride, yes. But 🇮🇳 is flag!

With this #KarnatakaVerdict, @BJP4India finally has a foothold in the south. Very imp for PM @narendramodi's 2019 re-election bid. His party has maxed out in north, central and west India -- south has 120+ parliament seats. My earlier piece:

After #KarnatakaVerdict, India's oldest political party -- @RahulGandhi led @INCIndia -- now rules states/ regions with around 2.5 percent population against appx 70% for @narendramodi's BJP and its allies. Next big fight: PM's party has to defend its 3 heartland states.

Also, as I travelled from north Karnataka to the south and Mysuru belt, saw @BJP4Karnataka, contrary to Delhi media reports -- smartly weaving their wider national pride pitch with atleast one or two local issues (emotional or developmental). #KarnatakaVerdict is for that mix too

After spending days reporting on the campaign trail, not a bad location to look at the #KarnatakaVerdict.
