This is a thread about my decision process in the #PA5 Congressional District race to unseat @PatMeehanPA who is not running for reelection in a district suddenly competitive thanks to redistricting. I am looking forward to flipping this district! /1
Deciding on #PA5 is not easy but that's good since there are so many good candidates! I immediately eliminated @RepMargoDavidso - she is my state rep and her inconsistent positions on reproductive rights and a curious vote on redistricting makes me not trust her. /2
Since I started paying attention, @dwertime and @danmuroff dropped out. I haven't been engaged by @twright8471 and @ThadforCongress which eliminates them for #PA5. I don't demand personal interaction but I am not seeing anything from them at all. /3
I am a pro-union dues-paying member of SEATU but @RichLazerPHL's use of a PAC for #PA5 is a thumb in eyes for anyone who wants money out of politics. This piece mentioning PAC treasurer Tara Chupka makes me think rank & file come in 2nd to leadership. nationalreview.com/2014/03/livin-… /4
I appreciate that @hollyotterbein of @PhillyInquirer & @PhillyDailyNews has been very prominently covering the #PA5 race and look forward to reading her in-depth features and Twitter feed in making my final decision. /6

2/ My grandmother was born on an upstate New York farm in 1900. She never even saw a black person until my grandfather married her and they moved to a very urban area in Queens when she was in her mid '20s.
3/ Her son, my dad, was born right before the baby boom and wound up becoming a typical East Coast liberal type - educated at NYU and Johns Hopkins. He came of age during the civil rights era.
1/ When a friend @DanielBukszpan complained that he was unable to play ASSHOLE in @SCRABBLE_EA, I explained to him that he had the wrong dictionary. He thought I was kidding.
Story time...
2/ There are two 'official' dictionaries in use now (not including the many foreign language editions of the board game) and you can use either of them in the online edition of the game many of us play - you just have to choose the one you want when creating the game.
3/ Notice in the screenshot how you can choose wither TWL or MW.
1/ James Clapper says in his new book, "Of course the Russian efforts affected the outcome. Surprising even themselves, they swung the election to a Trump win. To conclude otherwise stretches logic, common sense, and credulity to the breaking point." thedailybeast.com/james-clapper-…

3/ Despite Clapper's authoritative and informed opinion, some feel that nobody cares about Russian meddling. This is of course not true as opinion polls say most Americans do care. Six out of ten Americans say as much. vox.com/policy-and-pol…
1) @nytpolitics entered into an "arrangement with the author, with Peter Schweizer, to pursue the material included in his book, in advance" of the release of Clinton Cash as noted by @maddow in April, 2015.
2) @Salon noted in early 2016 that the @nytimes continued to publicize Clinton Cash even though "Scores of news organizations... promptly found a multitude of mistakes in the book and reported them out."
