#Total CEO Patrick Pouyanné: [#Trump's] announcement on #Iran clearly is pushing the price up. And I would not be surprised to see $100 per barrel in the coming months because, clearly, you will have some impacts. #Oil#IranDeal csis.org/analysis/conve…
#Pouyanné: we know we are back to the situation we were before the 2016 agreement, and in the meantime #Iran has grown its exportation by 1 million barrel(s) per day. So this 1 million barrel(s) per day is in question today. #IranDeal
#Total CEO Pouyanné: We have decided to look to that project in Iran because of the #JCPOA, which means end of secondary sanctions. As soon as the U.S. decide to put back in place the secondary sanctions, there is no possibility for us to be a major company, a global company.
Pouyanné: Secondary sanctions means that US president can decide #Total cannot have access to any US banks. I cannot run a company in 130 countries w/o any access to any US banks. It’s impossible. This is our world. 90% of the financing of Total are linked to U.S. banks. @lrozen
Pouyanné: The second possible secondary sanction is that it could give order to investors not to invest in #Total. I have more than 30 percent, almost 35 percent, of U.S. shareholders. I will not lose them. It’s not possible.
Pouyanné: And then [#Trump] could also give order that we could be – have problems with our assets in the U.S. I have more than $10 billion. We intend to grow.
So, we decided to sign South Pars b/c there was an international framework by the #JCPOA. We have done it fully legally.
Pouyanné: the only way, if we want to make SP11 project, would be to have a project waiver from the U.S. Not sure it will be easy to obtain. But we have also a contract w/ #Iran that we will respect, which is asking us to ask the support of French authorities to get that waiver.
Pouyanné: #SouthPars 11 for us was a nice opportunity and we would have ‒ but we have been quite prudent. We remind to everybody, because there are plenty of figures, what we spent only, you know, $40 million. #Iran#Total
Pouyanné: What wd be not good, neither for US nor for EU is that at the end if only #Russia & #China can make business w/ #Iran, not sure good 4 what we represent in world, EU & US. Do we want 2 give 2 all this ME region to China, Russia? This is what we're doing, step after step
