In the sense that marathons (with the exception of a few) have become quite 'homogenous' - pace-setters, 62min to halfway, dozens of 2:05 guys looking for breakthroughs. Yesterday the weather nudged that 'balance' off axis and all bets were off. Boston, by virtue of its course &
lack of pace-makers can throw up surprises (Korir a few years ago, too), but yesterday became a test of something that the likes of London, Berlin etc never are. Another reminder that solely chasing times can take the 'life' away from the sport. I'd rather see more of yesterday!
