I'll be livetweeting @btreynor, @markcartertm, Morgan, & Lingyun Ruan of @Snap's spotlight session at #GoogleNext18 on SRE in hybrid and cloud-native environments, starting in 15 minutes!
Leading off: @markcartertm. For past 15 years we've been building planet-scale services with performance, reliability and availability using Site Reliability Engineering.

Woo, we did it! And I made it to my next session on time afterwards too!
Summary: we discussed four key areas: (1) why operability matters and how DevOps+SRE improve reliability, (2) why/how to set up SLOs & an error budget focused on measuring your customers' needs, (3) reducing TTD/R w/ tooling, and (4) transparent SLIs for debugging #GoogleNext18

Today has been the Community Summit at #GoogleNext18 ... fabulously enjoyable. For the first time in a long time, I've been an attendee not a speaker - gosh, it was good. Thank you @edd and @sarahnovotny
I realise how much I miss messing with tech at such events. Too much of my life is spent at policy / nation state / industry level ... I miss the dabbling.
I'm always gobsmacked by some of the horror stories I hear from others. I knew "enterprise IT" was often a mess but it's easy to forget how far behind it can really be.
