I chose to watch reruns of Star Trek Deep Space 9 instead of getting in my usual Twitter dose. Now for you non-trekkies you need to know that the whole ST franchise is based on a world that has solved the problems of racism, poverty, crime and all other issues that plague us 1/
So in season 3 episode 11 & 12 the crew is transported back in time to the 21st century, before all those problems were solved. The year was 2024 and people who didn't have jobs or a place to live were put in sanctuary cities. Not the Sanctuary city we know but a walled off 2/
City where you are promised help finding work and housing but it never happens.
Why am I telling y'all about this? It reminds me of where we are today. Those suffering and those standing by need to find common ground and work together to make the world a better place
