THREAD: So I’m just leaving the @DeptVetAffairs office in #Austin #Texas. A beautiful new facility with new tv’s, furniture, staff, art, and other fancy schmancy stuff...

My doctor, which whom I’ve been seeing steadily over the last five years, let’s me in on a little secret. He said the @DeptVetAffairs lacks money to hire more staff, Docs/nurses/clinicians/etc... to support the YUGE amount of #Veterans waiting for care.

Not really a secret, right? We all kinda knew that... Here’s the kicker. Ready for this? Are you sitting down? He said “BUT, there’s a large bucket of money 💰 allotted to BEAUTIFY the #VA clinics throughout #Texas”. (Roughly $10M)

Here’s what they spent money on to beautify our clinic.

Plants. Because plants are more important than more our #Veterans

Art! Because art is more important than more medical staff to support our #veterans

This hanging thingy! Because hanging thingies are more important than more medical staff to care for our #veterans

An over abundance of furniture that hardly ever gets used. Most of the ‘waiting room’ furniture for primary care is close to the PC desks. That’s where people normally sit. (On the left)

I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this looks like fraud, waste & abuse. The $10M to “beautify” our VA clinics could’ve been put to better use.

We have tons of homeless #vets that need our help! This is NOT the way to do it!
