Let’s talks some history & how #Iran’s regime manipulates facts.

#OnThisDay, 65 years ago, a coup d'état brought an end to Iran’s sole democratically elected government of Dr. Mohammad Mosaddegh.

(2)
Why do I say “manipulates” history?

Look at @JZarif’s tweet in this regard.

(3)
He seeks to portray an image of #Iran’s mullahs (currently ruling the country) as a party opposing the 1953 coup d'état backed out by foreign intelligence services enjoying support from Iran’s then mullahs.

(4)
The first coup attempt failed on August 16 of 1953.

On August 19, a second attempt began by a number of influential mullahs and corrupt army officers.

Club-wielders supporting the Shah began chanting slogans against Mosaddegh.

Aug 19, 1953 – 10 am

Club-wielders supporting the Shah, seen on a tank, chanting slogans against Mosaddegh.
This shows the role of the Shah’s corrupt army in the coup.

(7)
Aug 19, 1953 – 10 am

Attack staged against newspapers in support of Mosaddegh’s government. The “Bakhtar” newspaper belonged to Dr. Hossein Fatemi, Mosaddegh’s Foreign Minister.

Tehran’s state radio building occupied.

(9)
Aug 19, 1953 – 2:30 pm

Bloodiest attacks staged near Mosaddegh’s home.

Shah’s supporters were seen parading dead bodies around the complex to instigate those inside the house.

Mosaddegh was arrested.

(10)
Kashani was an influential mullah who helped topple Mosaddegh & the Shah of #Iran return to power.

This image is said to be the Shah kissing Kashani.

(11)
This further proves how the mullahs preferred the Shah to Mosaddegh.

More about the mullahs’ malign role in the 1953 coup.

Mark J. Gasiorowski, “The 1953 Coup d’État Against Mosaddeq,” in Mark J. Gasiorowski & Malcolm Byrne, eds., Mohammad Mosaddeq & the 1953 Coup in Iran (Syracuse: Syracuse University Press, 2004)

(13)
This proves @JZarif’s hypocrisy of claiming to defend Mosaddegh & accusing the U.S. of misinformation & demagoguery. These are the same accusations raised by Iranians against #Iran’s regime for 40 years now.

(14)
All people of #Iran know #ZarifIsALiar.
And now he’s lying about the 1953 coup.

(15)
Conclusion: Yours to make.

For me, this again proves we should always be careful & doubt anything expressed by #Iran’s mullahs & their ponds.

Thank you for reading.
I welcome any & all constructive feedback.

Apologies for the typo:

Addendum:
Newly unveiled document shows how the Shah of #Iran paid a senior mullah & other operatives who carried out the coup against Mosaddegh's government.

Addendum:
Among the documents provided by Ardeshir Zahedi, the Shah’s last Ambassador to the U.S., we see a hand-written note reading:

"800,000 rial to Kashani"
"200,000 rial to Shaban & his group"

(This might have been written by Ardeshir's father, Gen. Fazlollah Zahedi.)

Addendum:

An image of Houshang Anusheh.

He was executed after the 19 August 1953 coup in #Iran.

His "crime" - Supporting Iran's then PM Dr. Mohammad Mosaddegh.

This true patriot was smiling & held his head high before the firing squad.
