Over the past 20 years, only 2-10% of rape accusations are proven to be fake. 1/


The FBI has put the number of "unfounded" rapes - those determined to be false after investigation - at 8%. 2/


Since records began in 1989, in the US there have been only 52 cases where men convicted of sexual assault were exonerated because it turned out they were falsely accused. 3/ law.umich.edu/special/exoner…

The number of rapes and sexual assaults which are never reported or prosecuted far outweighs the number of men convicted of rape because of fake accusations and FAR exceeds the number of false allegations. 4/

Figures from the US Bureau of Justice Statistics suggest only 35% of all sexual assaults are even reported to the police. 5/ bjs.gov/content/pub/pd…

According to a 2017 report by the US National Institutes of Health, "most false allegations were used to cover up other behaviors such as adultery or skipping school".

Almost all fake accusations are made by teenage girls to get out of trouble. 6/
