Babur Eminabad(iSadipur)imprisioned Guru Nanak along with other citizens when he invaded.
#GurNanak was made to work on stone grinder(Gurdwara Sri Chakki Sahib🇵🇰)
Babur was informed about the miraculous powers of Guru Nanak causing the grinder to move on its own.

Babar is believed to ask Guru for his blessings in his endeavour to conquer🇮🇳
Nanak replied
“you've come to conquer my land & you have the audacity to ask for my blessings".
Thus began the long history of hostility between Muslim invaders & all the Sikh Gurus.

I am reminded of My father, uncles, aunts travel back in time whenever I asked them to narrate the bitter #HorrorsOfPartition

They were numb as if lifeless for days thereafter,
waking or walking, they were just not there..

Every evening families’d gather around a few tandoors bake their rotis, & naans for interactive communal meals.
Some would take the cooked food home & retire to their respective homes After putting off the fire, da would be left over the warm tandoor to slow-cook overnight.

The year was 1940, Partition of India was imminent, situation was tense & future uncertain, fear of Muslim attacks hovered all the time,
youth had accumulated country-made guns, ones with military background guided villagers in self-defense,Arya Samaj and RSS provided gun powder.

Sardar Patel too had started organizing the supply of gun powder. Since it was prone to clumping because of moisture, after the families retired, the Sikh youth would put out the tandoor and then dry up the gunpowder in the simmering heat.

Men,women were prepared in self-defense.However, neither had much of a defense against local Muslims, who passed on information about prettiest Sikh/Hindu girls to mobs

Selling homes & fields to relocate wasn’t easy & where would they go
what would eventually become the🇮🇳side?

Protecting their womenfolk from predation was the biggest concern.

Punjabis followed an UNWRITTEN CODE OF CONDUCT’:
‘You cannot abandon other villagers and quit’
hence almost everyone stayed back.

1947 was an open call for Muslim mobs!
Armed with information about the prettiest young women in every village, they descend upon Sikhs & Hindus with the intent of killing the men, raping & abducting their women.
They marked houses & wrote on their walls!

The British didn’t want to spend on riot-controlI
British Indian Army was confined to the barracks.
The Sikh and Hindu men put up stout resistance until they ran out of gun powder following which, they would gather their daughters, wives in the gurdwaras.

fathers-brothers hugged them & cried,women didn’t, that’d weaken the men!
Ones who had gunpowder,shot their daughters and wives dead,those who’d run out of it, slit their beloved ones with kirpans as they knew what awaited the survivors!
Rape-ignominy of being sold into brothels!

🇮🇳was far,It would take days to reach.
The families that tried,barely made it out of the village,were intercepted by Muslim mobs.
Many men fought bravely but didn’t stand much chance against well-armed mobs.
Many collapsed fighting,bodies lay around, stray dogs fighting over’m!

what happened to the women is unimaginable-unwritable😭😡
More than a million died along the journey,caravans of refugees just walked for days to reach R camps erected in cities, pushed to the brink by violence,looting,food shortages...

Someone had the last laugh!
