THREAD: 1/The #AustinBombings story is a fluid situation with a lot of updates and changes. There's been some confusion around what is happening — so here's everything we know right now. #txlege #texas trib.it/8q

/ What has happened so far? Five bombs have exploded — leaving two dead and several others injured. Here are photos from a vigil for a 17-year-old victim. #txlege #AustinBombings trib.it/8q

/ What kind of bombs are being used? Some were packages left at doorsteps. Sunday’s explosion appears to have been triggered by a tripwire mechanism. We don't know the materials yet. #AustinBombings trib.it/8q

/ What's the motive? Police don't know yet. They are hoping the bomber will contact them. #AustinBombings trib.it/8q

/ Is race a factor? The first three victims were people of color, which set off fears that the bombings might be racially motivated. However, the victims of the Sunday attack were white, leaving authorities at loss over the motive. #AustinBombings trib.it/8q

/ A lot of people have asked: Why hasn’t this been deemed a hate crime or domestic terrorism? It’s impossible to identify those things if you don't know the bomber's motive. #AustinBombings trib.it/8q

/7 And we've seen a lot of people say on social media that this isn't getting any coverage — but that isn't true. Many national and local journalists are covering the #AustinBombings. trib.it/8q
