1/ MY VIEWPOINT as a former @DHSgov @ICEgov employee assigned to the Human Smuggling Cell in 2015 under Obama

2/ The process is inherently broken BUT there is a reason that most unaccompanied & accompanied kids are being sent to @HHSGov ORR contracted facilities. The kids can and were paired with adults to be smuggled...
3/ in Early FEB 2016 @ChuckGrassley states this in his opening statement (using my #whistleblower information) that "unaccompanied minors were being smuggled into the United States with adults".
4/ Foreign smuggling organizations were allegedly pairing these children with single women in an attempt to create a family unit to avoid detention and removal when crossing the border". YES, they were using fraud passports to pair kids with non-family; ..."

For Context: I blew the whistle to @US_OSC on August 4, 2015 at around 6:45PM. I’m still in litigation @USMSPB with my former agency.

1/ Quick border story from 2001, I was in the Border Patrol for a year. Stationed next to the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. An adult female presents herself for admission to the Port; accompanied by a 2-year old she says is hers. Upon questioning, she flees, leaves the kid there..
2/ Call goes out to the Border Patrol (including me) with her description. Well, my partner and I find her chatting up some friend by the McDonalds waiting for a cab. When questioned, she denied knowing the kid and then tried to say it was her cousin's kid.
3/ She was turned over to the smuggling group for prosecution (8 USC 1324). BOTTOM LINE: The smuggling of kids has been going on for decades. It needs to be stopped. The adults need to be vetted. Smugglers need to be prosecuted. Kids returned to their actual parents.

1/The surge of aliens at the border will not stop, BUT there are solutions. FACT, Many of the kids are being trafficked, close to 200,000 came here SOLO during the Obama admin. In fact, I belonged to the @DHSgov Human Smuggling Cell, that was created because of the surge.
2/ There are ways to curb this or expedite the process. If you can't qualify for asylum or other legal method; then you must be returned; NOT linger in immigration court for years with appeals. How do you expedite this?...
3/#FIXIT, properly vet the "families" unlike other admins; then expedite the removal/asylum process; hire 50+ immigration judges (IJ) and a cadre of Asylum Officers. Train more ICE/BP/CBP officers to conduct thorough interviews/interrogations.

1/Proper vetting for once; use the contracted Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program to monitor the sponsors (this is a program for aliens released from custody while they work through the immigration court system); the sponsors must be monitored and report in regularly.....
2/ HHS must work directly with ICE. Also, ICE also uses Orders of Supervision (OSUP) to monitor those released, the alien must report in monthly (or earlier if needed). Use this program, it is monitored by actual ICE officers that would be charged with monitoring the release...
3/ Have an outside agency (perhaps DOJ) monitor the program and provide oversight. The influx of aliens & Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) will not change or stop, need a permanent solution.
