You must have heard the word "quantum mechanics" before, and most of you may have probably heard the phrase in the popular @CBS show @bigbangtheory.

What does it mean?

Quantum Physics describes nature at the smallest scales of energy levels of atoms and subatomic particles.
In simple words, as opposed to 'Classical Physics', the Quantum Theory suggests that everything in the universe has both particle and wave nature, at the same time.

Confused?

Simply put, matter consists of "invisible energy fields" that can pass through solid things, at random!
So matter emits energy, how is it related to #Ayurveda?

For that you have to first acknowledge almost all fields of science have embraced the 'Quantum' approach except one - MEDICINE!

Ayurveda is an ancient science which already accepted that everything is made up of energy.
Ayur= Life
Veda= Science

Ayurveda is based on the principles of three doshas.

Doshas are the energies that make up every individual, which perform different physiological functions in the body:

1. Vata Dosha

2. Pitta Dosha

3. Kapha Dosha
So Ayurveda is ancient Quantum Medicine, how is it related to my periods?

Under Ayurveda, a woman's monthly cycle is viewed as a blessing, a unique chance to renew their bodies!

And guess what?

Different phases of your cycle are dominated by different doshas!
When your period starts, the Vata Dosha dominates the bodily functions.

Vata Dosha is that energy which is responsible in controlling bodily functions associated with motion, including blood circulation, and your period blood flow.

Estrogen levels are low, and you're fatigued.
Just as your period ends, the Kapha Dosha begins.

Kapha Dosha is responsible for maintaining the immune system and the reason for that sudden surge of energy in your body.

Estrogen increases, skin gets hydrated, your face looks more symmetrical, energy rises, you feel upbeat.
Now with time for ovulation, the Pitta Dosha sets in.

Pitta Dosha controls the body heat and body's metabolic systems, including digestion and ovulation in women.

Your body feels hot, emotions intensify, you're tired, excess oil on face, breakouts, you feel bloated.
The combined effect of Vata, Pitta and Kapha Dosha that a woman's body has to undergo each month is in itself an amazing feat!

But what if I told you that all these findings were already done thousands of years ago?

Check this out:
Often ancient medicinal science is disregarded, mocked at and even considered as an 'alternative' form of care.

However, the 'modern' medicine might be more backward than the Ayurvedic approach, especially due to it's disregard to the Quantum approach to things.
Modern medicine is as good for only 'pallative' care or in simple words - symptom reduction.

Those painkillers that you gulp down everytime you have a menstrual cramp, works only to mask your symptoms and your pain.

The idea is to manipulate the level of hormones in your body.
Ayurveda however advocates manipulating the three doshas/energies which control the hormonal levels in our body.

For example, through herbs, one can re-balance their Vata Dosha and have a cramp free period!

You can be the Queen of your periods, without any side effects!
How to deal with the Vata Dosha phase in your cycle?

The cardinal rule to follow while on your periods (Vata Dosha phase) is to opt for warm and cooked food.

Avoid dry/cold food.

Meditate and exercise lightly.

Rest at least for eight hours..keep warm and feel the warmth..☕️
How to deal with the Pitta Dosha phase in your cycle?

The Pitta Dosha is the phase that comes during the time of ovulation and lasts just before your period starts.

The best way to tackle all the heat and hormonal havoc in the body is to slow down- meditate and re-balance.
It is suggested to avoid tea, coffee, coke, spicy food, oily/greasy foods and chocolate during the Pitta Dosha phase.

Opt for more cooling food or stir up a refreshing drink with basil, mint, cilantro, cucumber, squashes or melons!

Imbalances in Pitta can follow in Vata Phase.
How to deal with the Kapha Dosha phase?

Your body is brimming with energy just after your period gets over.

Add spices such as ginger and black pepper to cooked meals to enhance digestion, absorption, and assimilation.

Exercise vigorously, be active, use that spurt of energy.
Many women often have a same question in their minds,

"Can I do #Yoga while menstruating?"

There are various misinformation campaigns around this particular question.

On #WorldYogaDay today, let me tell you all about #Yoga and #Menstruation
It's always great to indulge in #Yoga, especially to de-stress.

However, one needs to be a tad bit careful while the menstrual phase, i.e. the Vata Dosha, when the woman starts to bleed.

To understand this, let us explore the Five Yoga Pranas or Energies! #YogaDay2018
Each of these Pranas/Energies correspond to automatic physiological body functions.

Apana- Downward moving
Vyana- Multidirectional
Udana-Speech related
Pran-Respiration
Samana-Metabolism

The Apana Energy is responsible for excretion, urination ejaculation and #menstruation!
While menstruating, women should avoid inverted yoga postures such as headstand, shoulder stand, and hand stand or poses that place the body completely upside down.

Inverted poses reverse and disturb the natural downward flow of Apana Prana, upon which menstruation relies.
You can instead do light exercises and Yoga postures that invoke your fetal position.

My personal favourite is the "Bālāsana" also known as the "Child's Pose".

Let go off all the stress and cramps, and just relax!😇

Anyone wants to read the text version of Swami Vivekananada's historic Chicago Speech?
#SwamiVivekananda
From #SwamiVivekananda's Chicago Speech:

Three religions now stand in the world which have came down to us from time prehistoric — Hinduism, Zoroastrianism and Judaism. They have all received tremendous shocks and all of them prove by their survival their internal strength.
But while Judaism failed to absorb Christianity and was driven out of its place of birth by its all-conquering daughter, and a handful of Parsees is all that remains to tell the tale of their grand religion, sect after sect arose in India and seemed to shake the religion of..
