(1) For myriad longstanding reasons, President Trump is withdrawing the US from the 12 year old UN "Human Rights" Council.
The UNHRC has never promoted Human Rights. Only the rights of our enemies, including the global Islamic National Socialism network, Iran & Russia.
(2) #PromisesMadePromisesKept - Expect further changes to US involvement in the UN under this President. It's what he campaigned on, and what American voters wanted. For too long, our adversaries have exploited the UN to work against America and its interests.
(3) The UNHRC:
>protects human rights abusers
>allows them to serve on council
>shows bias in decisions
>enables countries like China, Egypt & Russia to undermine U.S. reform efforts
>has passed more resolutions in 2018 condemning Israel than Iran, Syria & NoKo combined.
(4) National Security Adviser John Bolton opposed the creation of the UNHRC when he served as the US Ambassador to the UN under GWB.
In 2017 the US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley slammed the UNHRC for its “relentless, pathological campaign” against Israel.
(5) Of course, the UNHRC commissioner, Jordanian Prince Zaid, can only respond to Trump's #PrincipledRealism move to leave the Council by attacking his enforcement of the rule of law on the US Southern border. Open borders suits the Council's communist agenda.
(6) Our adversaries are always so ironic at times like these. Whenever WE criticise their "human rights" abuses, we are told not to interfere in domestic affairs.
But when the US government merely enforces its laws and borders, that is condemned by actual human rights abusers.
(7) The UN has long drifted from its original purpose and the Charter signed be member states, importantly the 5 UNSEC permanent members: USA, UK, France, China & the then USSR, now Russia.
(8) #AmericaFirst does not, and has never meant, America alone. President Trump is simply enforcing the original agreements that founded the UN: Collective security, human rights, and the promotion of peace.
(9) The same impetus that led to the UN Charter led to the establishment of Israel.
The same animus toward the Jewish people in 1948 has continued ever since through the global Islamic National Socialism network that now dominates the UN generally & the UNHRC in particular.
(10) Those who dominate the UNHRC want to drive Israel into the sea using whatever means they can.
The USA proudly stands with Israel against terrorism, war and Iranian regime imperialism in the Middle East. We stand with the people of Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Iran.
(11) The US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the 30 Muslim majority countries of the 2017 #RiyadhSummit are ready to create the conditions for peace, finally uniting against the Mullahs of Iran, and their backers in Russia, Germany and wider Europe.
Enough. It is time.
(12) As the President said at the UN General Assembly in 2017, there can be no substitute for "strong, sovereign, independent nations."
Sustained human rights can only be enforced in countries that respect the rule of law.
END

(14) A good thread by Israeli PM Netanyahu: "Instead of dealing with regimes that systematically violate human rights, the UNHRC obsessively focuses on Israel, the one genuine democracy in the Middle East."

(15) Transcript of remarks by Pompeo and Haley announcing the US withdrawal from the UNHRC. usun.state.gov/remarks/8486
Highlights:
(16) "The only thing worse than a council that does almost nothing to protect human rights is a council that covers for human rights abuses and is therefore an obstacle to progress and an impediment to change." -Secretary Pompeo
(17) "The United States has no opposition in principle to multilateral bodies working to protect human rights. We desire to work with our allies and partners on this critical objective that reflects America’s commitment to freedom.
But when organizations undermine... "
(18) "... our national interests and our allies, we will not be complicit. When they seek to infringe on our national sovereignty, we will not be silent.
(19) Secretary Pompeo on Ambassador Haley:
(20) Ambassador Haley gave them 12 months to show some sign of improvement.
(21) "[M]y team met with more than 125 member-states... Almost every country we met with agrees with us in principle and behind closed doors that the Human Rights Council needs major, dramatic, systemic changes, yet no other country has had the courage to join our fight." -Haley

(2) Brett M. Kavanaugh will soon be the 102nd Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the USA. He has earned this highest honor throughout his life, inspired by his trailblazing mother, Judge Martha Kavanaugh.
His title for these few hours is Associate Justice Designate.
(3) This statement from the Supreme Court explains the two ceremonies:
(2) This WaPo reporter is incorrect about the vote being "scheduled for" Saturday. The earliest time a vote COULD be held is Saturday pm. There's no reason not to hold it on Sun/Mon IF we need Daines. I think we won't. Read my 5 tweets about him here:
(1) A directory of my Kavanaugh threads since July 9, 2018.
I never planned more than a couple of threads about him this year but, I shoulda known the Dems would try to destroy whoever was the nominee this time.
(2) Like Democrats, I'd already decided how I felt about him before his nomination was announced. I live-tweeted the announcement, which was a great event in itself.
(3) I followed Kavanaugh's progress over the summer and on September 22nd, I finally wrote a thread about the preparations for the all-important hearing on September 27th. It covers the hearing before the next thread started the day after.
(2) Mitch laughing to himself about how absurd it is that he has to push his way through the crowd of reporters on 9/25/18.
(3) Sen Grassley is 85 years old. (Democrats have senators around that age, too.)
Today he had to hold onto a Capitol Police officer to reduce the risk of a reporter knocking him over. This has to stop. Senators must return to being able to walk around freely at work.
(2) First Lady Melania Trump is a natural in this important role.
She's one of those women whose face lights up whenever she is around children. God Bless our great First Lady.

(3) FLOTUS left Joint Base Andrews in her trademark high heels and arrived in Ghana wearing practical flats. She still looks sensational, whatever she happens to wear!
(2) Cloture in the Senate is a procedural step that you can learn more about at the link below. The senate.gov website is the best resource for learning about Senate procedure and a lot more. Same for house.gov.
(3) Watching live Senate floor proceedings is boring as hell, as they pass bills for naming Post Offices, & so on. But every now & then, they confirm a SCOTUS judge. And this time, they will affirm our great #BillOfRights#DueProcess & the hard-won #RuleOfLaw. Seriously. 🇺🇸🦅
