Methodologically, this work adds to the existing literature in a few meaningful ways. We used facets of established constructs to gain a more precise understanding of the psychological underpinnings of Trump supporters (2/12)

We analyzed psychological differences between politically relevant groups in the 2016 Election: Democrats, Republicans, and Trumpists in both primaries and general election. (3/12)

Reported effect sizes and results are replicated across several studies – and are robust across methodologies (mean differences, logistic regressions). We used large and nationally representative samples of the American population. (4/12)

To abide by cumulative science principles, we used two techniques (mini-meta, integrative data analysis) to gauge whether these results indeed painted a clear pattern. (5/12)

We were able to distill 2 of the psychological characteristics that were unique to Trump supporters: authoritarian aggression and group-based dominance. (6/12)

Substantively, this finding may be informative to those seeking insight into *why* Trump’s base has supported policies such as building a wall with the Mexican border, the muslin ban, […], as well as most recently the prosecution of asylum seekers and parent separation. (7/12)

Indeed, Trump's executive orders seem to bear the hallmarks of group-based dominance and authoritarian aggression. Here's are a few exemplary items Trump supporters endorsed more than Republicans and Democrats: A. Some groups of people are simply inferior to other groups. (8/12)

B. What our country needs instead of more civil rights is a good stiff dose of law and order. C. Some groups of people must be kept in their place. D. What our country really needs is a strong, determined President which will crush the evil and set us in our right way again(9/12)

It may be worth noticing that authoritarian aggression is associated w punitiveness toward norm violators (Funke,2005) n approval of torture (Benamin,2016) while group-based dominance is related to racism, intergroup hostility and inequality (Kugler,Cooper,&Nosek, 2010).(10/12)

In this sense, our research suggests that Trump's positions & executive orders seem to be aligned with his supporters' personality dispositions. And it sheds lights on the psychology of polarization, sorting, and Tribalism... (11/12)
