Here come some thoughts. Haven't actually talked about my own feelings for a while so bear with. I think especially since the #PeoplesVoteMarch at the weekend, and the sad spate of infighting that came after, I'm taking stock. 1/
When I first saw the Brexit referendum result, I didn't know anything about the dark money, the gerry-mandering, the manipulation. I just knew that many people had suffered too long from UK policies, and felt they needed to send a message. For better or worse. 2.
At that point I was actually willing to accept the result, I felt that the government would take the lack of a clear majority as a sign that things needed to be discussed, and a compromise reached. I had way too much faith. 3/
Of course now I understand that a government that would scapegoat immigrants and use them against their friends, native people, to gain power and suck the country dry, weren't going to sit down and discuss it. That's even before the corrupt forces behind. 4/
But I came round to the idea of campaigning for us to stop, before we got too deep down this road. It's clear, since the referendum, that the government got everyone into this mess and they have no intention of leading us out. Brexit or no Brexit. 5/
This from @OFOCBrexit sums it up for me. I can't be angry with these people for being kept in the dark. Yes the research was always there, but I know myself how hard it is when you're working hard to get by 6/
It's an unpopular opinion, but I can't be angry with most. Of course I hate with a passion that many knew from the beginning they were being xenophobic assholes, and happy to fall for the far right lies. But not everyone has the luxury of time. Time to read and think. 7/
I've reached out myself to many Leavers, some who have especially been alarmed at what is happening to the immigrants they grew up around. Some don't give a shit obviously, but the ones who did promised they would try and take notice. I hope they are. 8/
But I also think that whatever happens now, this country is in a very dark place. Either way things are going to be broken for a long time. Ending Brexit will stop any further damage, and will help us rebuild the economy, but it won't help us heal as people. 9/
So thank you to @OFOCBrexit for going out there and starting to talk. It's nice to see things being worked out without the bitterness that I see a lot, understandable as the bitterness is. We need to move forward even so. 10/
And in the meantime a lot of damage to the country has already been done, and people don't realise how much we will suffer for a while no matter what happens. We need to be able to manage the downturn. Many people will be very poor for a while no matter who is in no 10. 11/
I recommend reading this from @J_amesp. It's not there to alarm people, just to teach them how to be ready if we had some difficult times with food, power and resources due to economic downturn 12/ thermopylaeco.files.wordpress.com/2018/06/gettin…
I want Brexit to stop. But I also want us to start thinking about what we need to do regardless as a country. @FinalSayForAll have stories from all walks of life, from people who just want to be able to have a say in what happens next. 13/
I also want to say that I won't turn anyone away, not even those who voted to purposefully harm my family, including my EU spouse. Those who voted Leave or Remain, and don't want what is happening now, please talk. 14/14

I feel like a few things need to be cleared up among fellow Remainers, regarding the differences/similarities in loss of rights depending on who could/couldn't vote, or where they are/are from. It's been sad to see so much fighting about this. 1/
There are several groups of people, all Remainers, but all affected very differently by Brexit. It's not to say that people with less to lose are less important- that's absolutely not the case. But there are differences that we need to be respectful of 2/
There are the 16 million British people who voted to remain, and are now losing their freedom of movement, their rights as EU citizens, and their rights to be heard as a substantial minority by a government no longer listening. 3/

Ok, a few point about this that seriously need to be discussed. This is the think-tank's proposals for post-Brexit low-skilled immigration in the UK theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/j…
1. The biggest point in the article is about the "anti-social hours visa", so basically we only want you if you are willing to work at night, away from the rest of us. And you will be fingerprinted AND carry an ID card for the 'privilege'. You're fucking welcome.
2. Obviously this brings up questions about integration. If people are so worried about immigrants "joining in", then surely it makes no sense to have them working at night where they don't have the opportunity to connect with others? How are they going to want to connect?
