Thread- My family has lived in CA since before Columbus. One thing I've noticed is how many of us who ARE here, haven't/don't actually GO there - ie, tourist attractions.

My Grand-Uncle spent WWII with a group of RCAF, RAF, ANZAC, and Army Air Corps pilots flying cargo over the Hump of India. In later years he became a pacifist and a world traveler.

One of his great pleasures was to travel to a place where one of his old flying buddies had retired, for a visit. Amsterdam, Goa, Oslo, etc. We never knew until long after he died, that these trips were part of a mission.

Uncle J. was part of a group that kept tabs on Nazi soldiers. When they came back to places they had been stationed before, they were jeered, shamed, pelted with garbage, by these cool old dudes who weren't having the Peaceful Private Citizen shit.

In the wake of #RedHen , I keep thinking of all of the possibilities for this in our own loci. Engaging with literal fascists as if everything is copacetic is a form of collaboration. If WE don't get to be comfortable, why the hell should they be?

So - an idea. Just one example; Disneyland is home to a town with a 52% Hispanic population. Every summer they are overrun with lots of folks from Trumpland, (and probably a lot of non-voters).

What if - let's say....someone working at, for instance, 'It's A Small World' jammed the audio portion of that ride with a clip from the @ProPublica tape? What if someone dressed as a certain orange sonofabitch 'shot' a 'reporter' in the middle of Main Street USA and laughed?

Or, imagine this - taking your family to a camping trip at Yosemite, and returning from a hike to see "For Sale" signs on two-thirds of your gear, and a guy standing next to it revving up a drill?

Rather than a general strike, we could make it a rolling series of creative non-cooperative performance-art/shunning. Anyone choosing to go through this epoch with their head up their ass would never know when they would trip a psychological landmine.

Culture Jamming is a very ancient, effective form of protest. I don't claim to have invented it. But I'm really feeling its inherent power and possibility right now.

Don't even get me started on Burning Man. (Sounds fun, doesn't it?) Okay, this is a note for myself before I get back to writing. It's okay if you want to read it too. Peace.
