Why are people out in the scorching heat in record numbers?
1) The current Administration has implemented a devastating new policy of separating young children - including infants - from their mothers and fathers at the border as their parents are attempting to claim asylum...
2) The immigration executive order does NOT end the ‘zero tolerance’ policy, which is entirely new and was created by the Administration; instead, they are pressing ahead to present indefinite child/family detention as somehow an acceptable alternative...
3) We must reject this false choice. This policy is simply wrong. It does nothing to keep us safer, and it is inhumane. As parents are being ripped apart from their children and put into criminal proceedings, they are not told whether they'll be reunited with their children...
4) In some cases parents are told" forfeit your legal right to apply for asylum and we'll give you your kid back and you can be deported together" and then the parents are deported by themselves. This is done in ALL of our names. It is outrageous...
5) Efforts to replace family separation with the elimination of nearly any asylum claims and jailing tens of thousands of immigrant and refugee families together for what is likely years is absolutely wrong. It is un-American and has nothing to do with public safety...
6) Opposition to this policy should have nothing to do with politics - it is simply wrong to separate children from their parents. That is why we fight. #FamiliesBelongTogetherMarch (fin)

1) they really didn’t pick the right singles to pre-release on the last album. oh baby and tonite are total masterpieces that I would say are top 10-12(ish) songs for them. Also oh baby is a perfect album opener, even ending with the 💯 “there’s always a side door into the dark”
2) All My Friends is in fact their best song! 3) the MSG live show is the. Est live album since Stop Maming Sense 4) you cannot quote losing my edge too much in the workplace. 5) the openings of Someone Great and I Can Change are my two favorites, but someone great is better live
Chairman Goodlatte has hearing today to ban all nationwide injunctions. People can disagree abt these, but not is this only now bc of DACA rulings, but in 2015 he PRAISED the nationwide injunction that stopped DAPA. breitbart.com/big-government…
More on this:
In 2015, there was a Nationwide Injunction out of Judge Hanen's Federal Court in the 5th circuit blocking implementation of Expanded DACA & DAPA. This prevented up to 5 million undocumented immigrants with strong ties to the US from getting renewable work permits.
Now its 2018 & a series of Fed Judges have ruled that the Trump administration acted unlawfully when it attempted to end DACA. 2 nationwide injunctions in place now currently allow DACA renewals to continue, and even that Judge from 2015 ruled to KEEP the Nat. injunction in place
Good Morning! Here's a quick thread about how public activism--from millions of Americans who usually haven't spoken out--has made a huge difference in the last year!
1) 1 year ago today, the Trump administration announced it would end DACA. Throughout the entire campaign, they promised to end DACA and Day 1. But starting in the hours after Nov 6th, a furious effort began from all corners of the country began to stop--or at least slow--this.
2) After 7 months into the admin and internal fighting and maneuvering (although we should be clear, this is on POTUS), the AG walked onto a stage with a huge smiled and announced his plan to eliminate the ability for nearly 700,000 Dreamers to live and work legally in the US.
Been out of the office, so just caught this over weekend. Seems a good opportunity to make a few points clear on policy--and also it seems there is some things where language was imprecise and/or out of context & could use some more clarification. Thread-> denverpost.com/2018/08/22/mik…
So Congressman Coffman was the original house author of the Bridge Act, which was a temporary solution for the current 700k DACA recipients (which we supported). His leadership to act quickly 22 months ago was critical.
Similarly, the Congressman took the right and appreciated step to sign onto the discharge petition for the queen of the hill process, something only 22 other House GOPers did. Sadly, this effort failed under pressure from GOP leadership and the WH...
CIS, along with NumbersUSA & FAIR, were founded by the same man, John Tanton, a proud white supremacist-by his own definition-who believed in radical population reduction and eugenics of non-desirable (read: not white) populations and doing everything to bar them from the US. 2/6
These groups are sometimes described as caring abt "border security" or "conservative." In fact, they admit this is not the case, and their funding and roots come from the zero population growth movement and forced sterilization efforts of past decades 3/6 humanlifereview.com/hijacking-immi…
Good Morning. Here's an update on where things stand in the wake of the United States government ripping thousands of children away from their parents at the border. There is good news and bad news and inspiring news and very bad news. A quick thread --->
1) TODAY is the deadline for the govt to re-unify the over 2,500 families it pulled apart in May and June. We don't have updated numbers but we believe they have reunited only between 40%-50% of those families as of late last night...
2) The government has had zero plan from the beginning to reunite these families. It didn't even bother to initially track which children it separated from their parents vs those who came as actual unaccompanied minors. But public pressure and court orders are working...
