I understand when defenders of #JimJordan and Jordan himself question the timing and ask why now, saying it seems political. But, here's the thing, these young men may have felt one way about Jordan being a representative, one among many, and
they may feel very differently about the man who knew of and ignored the abuses against them becoming 3rd in line to the presidency and one of the most powerful people in the country. It might be one thing to have to see his face on television off and on and
yet they may feel very differently about the man who watched and did not thing while they were molested become a daily TV presence, a ubiquitous reminder of their trauma. They might be able to deal with the trauma by shutting it out, but
the more #JimJordan sought the limelight and sought power, the more they were forced to see his face, and the more the indignities and abuses were brought to mind. Seriously, if you're an abuser or an abuser's accomplice, publicity is not your friend.
As to #JimJordan's defense that it was locker room talk, it's a criminal offense for a school employee to fail to report abuse.
And as to the timing, well, the scandal is much larger than #JimJordan and began in April. It's grown to include him because he failed in his duty to the young men he coached, he failed them utterly.
