[THREAD] Over the weekend, I ran a poll on initiatives aimed at improving access to #NHS#primarycare. While respondents probably aren’t representative of the wider population, I think the results are striking: what people want most is convenience. (1/5)
@harrylongman’s much larger survey of patients of 12 GP practices using @askmygp shows that only 15% of patients prefer face-to-face appointments as the default.
The first universal #NHSapp will make access to services easier but may serve to increase demand. We need to provide support to GPs to change working practices and move on from face-to-face consultation as the default to telephone triage and video appts with their own GP. (4/5)
The #NHSapp can also help deal with demand if it allows/requires patients to search #NHS111 information *before* allowing them to make appointments. AI would make the experience more helpful and interactive. (5/5)
